Oakville

Empire roofing is proud to offer outstanding roofing solutions to industrial and commercial buildings in the vibrant and impressive town of Oakville.

Situated on the shores of Lake Ontario in Halton Region, Southern Ontario, the suburban town of Oakville has an estimated population of 182,520 as of the 2011 census. 75 percent of the population is between the ages of 20 and 54, and the average household income is $118,671, which explains the vibrant nature of Oakville.

Oakville is a short 30-minute drive from downtown Toronto, and 60-minute drive from the US border, which makes it a popular destination for visitors. In fact, Oakville is ranked as one of the five “must visit” Greater Toronto Area destinations by the Toronto Life Magazine.

History of Oakville

The town of Oakville is said to have been founded by Colonel William Chisholm in 1857 when he acquired the land at the mouths of the 12 Mile (Bronte) and 16 Mile Creeks from the people of Mississauga. He then left the lands to his son and brother-in-law, Robert Kerr Chisholm and Thomas Merrick, respectively, who took advantage of the abundance of trees at the shores and two natural harbours to start shipbuilding and timber industries.
